Trouble is brewing in Edunabon a community in Ayedaade area of Osun State.

The crisis is over the selection of a new monarch for the agrarian town located in Ife North Local Government.

Since Oba Elijah Omoloye Oyelade (Agunbiade 1), the Salu of Edunabon land joined his ancestors on August 4, 2017, the community has been in crisis over who would succeed him as the new monarch.

The crisis is already threatening the peace in the town.

Two Oba elects have emerged, with each of the parties involved in the selection process insisting its candidate is the legitimate one.

The two princes jostling to ascend the throne of the Salu are; Prince Kehinde Oladepo and Prince Nasiru Adebayo.

Oladepo, a 39-year-old Police Sergeant in a selection exercise packaged by the Chairman of Ife North Local Government Area, emerged the Oba-elect.

His name was forwarded to the immediate past governor of the state, Rauf Aregbesola, who approved the selection of Oladepo.

The kingmakers, however, announced the emergence of Adebayo as the new Salu of Edunabon.

The kingmakers claimed that the local government was insisting on imposing a traditional ruler on them, as the town's candidate for the throne and they have threatened to resist it at all cost.

Residents of the sleepy community are watching as the drama continue to play out just as they are asking whether Gov. Gboyega Oyetola would upturn the approval of his predecessor or not.

Bounce News got in touch with one of the senior aides to the  governor, who pleaded anonymity.

He said: “As far as I know, at the twilight of the immediate government of former Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the state Executive Council met and approved the appointment of Kehinde as the Salu of Edunabon.

"The council, however, did not know that the chairman of Ife North-West Local Government Council did not follow due process, among which is to consult with the Ooni, who is the prescribing authority on the matter.

“However, the Osun State governor is on top of the matter, and action will be taken soon to restore peace in the town.

"The Salu issue would be resolved once and for all. This is part of the problems this present administration inherited, but we will deal with it".
