An imminent attack on a community in Nasarawa may have been averted. 

Five armed militias have been arrested in Ugyi town in Toto Local Government Area of the state by troops of the 177 Guards Battalion of the Nigerian Army.

The arrest was made during a raid in the area.

A statement by a spokesman for the army, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, listed items recovered from them: one Daihatsu SUV jeep, seven motorcycles, six dane guns and one locally made revolver pistol.

Other items: four 9mm rounds of ammunition and a cartridge, twenty six daggers with names and phone numbers written on each, one sword and forty pieces of customised regalia.

Also recovered from the suspects are 1,205 Naira and assorted charms.

Chukwu said preliminary investigation is ongoing, adding they would be handed over to the appropriate authority on completion of the investigation.
