Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo has gotten down to business at his new Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

Ighalo, who made a switch from Changchun Yatai to Shehua, has been handed the Number 9 jersey at his new club and he has since resumed training with his new teammates.

Speaking on his latest transfer, Ighalo revealed that one of his soccer idols, Obafemi Martins contributed immensely in his choice to settle for a move to Shanghai Shenhua.

He said: 'Martins is my idol. I respect him very much. He has achieved great success in his career."

''When I knew that I had the opportunity to come to Shenhua, I sent a message to Martins, who told me that Shenhua is a very good club, Shenhua's home and fans are very good.

''I made a decision after talking with him, I can really join this team. There are other teams in the Super League invited me, but I chose Shenhua.

''I am very satisfied with this decision. I have only been here for two days, but I enjoy the time I have worked, and I can't wait to start this journey.''

Obafemi Martins notched 32 goals in 59 appearances across all competitions during his three-year stint with Shanghai Shenhua and Ighalo should be able to match that if not surpass it, going by his antecedents.

Ighalo is a proven goal scorer in the Chinese Super League; netting 36 goals in 55 games for Changchun Yatai who sadly could not beat the drop and has since been relegated from the CSL.
