Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has completed a move to English Championship club Middlesbrough.

Mikel completed his move late on Tuesday after agreeing personal terms and passing his medical at the club.

He joined Middlesbrough from Tianjin Teda where he played for two years after leaving Chelsea.

His move to the Championship side is believed to be a free transfer after exiting the Chinese club, but reports say the Nigerian will be earning about 160,000 pounds weekly in his new club.

Two-time Premier League winner Mikel will join up with his new team-mates on Wednesday morning, according to The Sun.

Roma and Wolfsburg had registered an interest but the Nigerian international wanted to return to England, where his wife and two young children are based.

The Champions League winner will be part of a Tony Pulis side looking to bring Premier League football back to the Riverside next season.

Boro currently sit fifth in the Championship table and seven points off leaders Leeds.
