Mistaken for a commercial okada rider, he was stopped and forced to ‘cut ticket’.

A motorcycle rider has lost his life in Abeokuta during a fight over the payment of mandatory daily rider’s ticket paid by commercial motorcycle riders in Ogun state.

The late bricklayer, who has been identified as Ibrahim, was heading to work when he was stopped by an agent of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) named Senpe.

The ticket regulatory agent insisted he must purchase the daily ticket at their junction at Iyana Mortuary in Abeokuta.

The late Ibrahim, aged 33, refused to pay the fee, insisting that he is not a commercial motorcycle rider.

According to an eye witness, Ibrahim fell to the ground after Senpe pushed him during a fight.

On arriving at the Federal Medical Centre, Ibrahim was declared dead by the doctor on duty while his body was deposited to the morgue of the State Hospital Ijaye.

Immediately, motorcycle riders took to the street to protest the death of the Ibrahim and daily charges of 400 naira.

They destroyed the glass of a window at the secretariat of ACOMORAN at quarry road in Abeokuta.

Also, the riders protested to the governor’s office, Ibara police station, state hospital Ijaye, Quarry, Iyana mortuary and Lafenwa and blocked major roads.

Ibrahim is survived by four kids, a wife and an aged mother.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Chairman of ACOMORAN in Ogun central, Yaya Makinde, spoke to Bounce News.

He confirmed that the ticket agent has been handed over to the police and investigation into the matter has begun.
