TRADE FAIR: Shell Cooperative Trade Exhibition Kicks-off In Lagos
One of Nigeria’s largest trade and sales exhibitions has kicked off in Lagos.
It is the annual Shell Staff Cooperative Investment and Thrift Society Ltd, COOPLAG.
It's arguably the largest and most successful cooperative-backed trade exhibition in Nigeria. The exhibition is happening simultaneously in Lagos and Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
This is the 14th edition of the trade expo and Bounce News was at the opening and can confirm that it's a one-stop shop trade fair.
Located at the spacious Nepa Car park in Marina, Lagos, the expo has become a beehive of activity, a sign of an amazing experience that will last for the next five days.
It was a mini market of sort with assorted items on display - electronics, food, fashion, furniture, healthcare products and ICT solutions.
There are also renewable energy products, automobile products, financial solutions, mortgages, and other consumer goods.
Over 100 companies are participating in the trade expo, including key COOPLAG partners including; Globacom, PZ Cussons and Cooperative Mortgage Bank.
The companies cut across banking and financial services, manufacturing, sales, e-commerce, real estate, telecoms, IT and agribusiness.
Prices of items here are affordable compared to the regular market as they are sold at discounted rates.
Attendance at the exhibition is not restricted, so you can take advantage of this opportunity to do your Christmas shopping.
The President of COOPLAG, Akinrotimi Akintomide told Bounce News at the opening ceremony that the expo is an improvement of previous editions and that participants should expect improved experiences.
He said: “Last year this exhibition was about alternative energy sources, but this year we are focusing on investment and innovation. Over all, we have made the environment much better than what it was last year, just so to make sure there is a seamless shopping experience for participants.
“And this is because, for us, we want to continually improve year-on-year. Our goal is to be able to take the entire car park within the next three to four years.
“Discounts start from as low as 10% to as high as 50%, depending on the vendor. We have spoken with the vendors and we have an understanding that the cost shouldn’t be passed to our members.”
Akintomide also explained that the expo continues Tuesday (tomorrow) with a special focus on families. Members are expected to come to the exhibition with their family to have fun at the expo.
The expo will culminate in a raffle draw at the closing on Friday, where members can win several prizes including the star prize of a house in Abuja, courtesy Cooperative Mortgage Bank.
