Kpomo is the relatively delicious cow skin that has been described as having no nutritional value.

But Nigerians cannot get enough of it.

Perhaps Adesanya Tobi, 26, is one of those Nigerians who cannot resist the taste of kpomo, but then the story this time is not palatable.

He was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with breaking into one Yusuf Iyabo’s shop and stealing 44 pieces of kpomo, valued at 80,000 Naira.

This is obviously more than what one man can eat at once.

The prosecutor said Tobi was caught by the vigilante group on March 25 at Ijaye Bus Stop, Ojokoro area of Lagos just after committing the offence.

He said the iron rods and cutlasses he used to damage the door of the shop were recovered from him.

He added that the offences contravened sections 285 and 308 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Section 285 stipulates three years’ jail term if convicted.

Tobi, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of breaking and stealing preferred against him.

The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Anifowoshe adjourned the case until April 17.
