'Tinubu Remains My Political Leader' - Obanikoro
A former Minister of State for Defence and a close ally of Goodluck Jonathan, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is switching the umbrella for the broom.
The declaration ceremony, which has received the approval of APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu, and the party’s Chairman in Lagos State, Henry Ajomale, is billed to take place at the Campus Square, Lagos Island, on Saturday.
The decision by Obanikoro, Nigeria’s former High Commissioner to Ghana to leave the PDP may be due the party's inability to fix its leadership issues.
Obanikoro recently made up with Tinubu after many years of opposition politics following his exit from the fold of the progressives in 2006 to contest the 2007 governorship election.
He had claimed recently that his reconciliation with Tinubu was made possible by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu.
“I discovered that each time I went farther from Tinubu, I had gone farther astray and down the alley. I knew I needed to return home. Asiwaju is my political leader and would remain so,” he had said.
Meanwhile, former Special Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo on Export Promotion and Investment, Dupe Shasore, is also expected to join the APC.
