Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, on Saturday disagreed with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The disagreement came folowing claims by Obasanjo that governors who were opposed to local government autonomy were responsible for the financial incapacitation of the third tier of government.

Aregbesola said although he did not want to reply the former President, he blamed failure of some of Obasanjo’s  policies while in office on the creation of third tier.

The governor spoke on Saturday during the last edition of his all night interactive session with journalists, party members and other stakeholders in the state, tagged ‘Ogbeni Till Day Break.’

The governor noted that third tier of government as it existed in Nigeria was an aberration while noting that only two components existed  in all countries practising federalism.

Aregbesola said, “I don’t want to reply Obasanjo. If I were to reply him, I will ask why hospitals for Primary Health Care initiated by his administration for all local government areas in the country failed.

“Why did the contract for the purchase of security vehicles for all local government areas his administration did also fail? Nigeria as a federation has two tiers of government– federal and state or region. Whatever happens within the region or state is the primary responsibility of the state or that region.”
