Yinka Oyeniji is one young Nigerian who is tired of President Muhammadu Buhari and is not willing to give him any more benefits of the doubts.

The President, during his New Year speech on Monday, asked Nigerians to pick their words carefully while commenting on political issues but Oyeniji is struggling to be civil regarding the president himself.

“He sounded like a military leader who was trying to convince the citizens to still give him more time.

“I have followed the trend from the independence and inauguration speeches as well as the New Year messages of the president since the inception of his administration and its always been filled with promises.

“I looked at the entirety of that speech, put at 100%, I will say it was more of 40% trying to buy time again from Nigerians and I don’t know if Nigerians have the patience of the next 12 months.”

Oyeniji faulted the many points raised by the president as his achievements in the past year.

He particularly berated him for claiming that he had resolved the Niger Delta crisis when there were still reports of environmental issues in the region.

He also highlighted the inconsistencies in his supposed defeat of the Boko Haram insurgency.

“I find that laughable. Just about three weeks ago, Presidency informed us that they were going to withdraw a billion dollars from our sovereign wealth fund to tackle Boko Haram.

“That was the first thing he said, and then the next thing the vice president tells us it is not only to fight Boko Haram but to fight insecurity in all the states.

“How can you, in one breath say you have defeated Boko Haram and then you are taking $1billion again to fight Boko Haram?” he queried.

As far as this man is concerned, Buhari and his fellow politicians can continue to say Nigerian youths are not ready for leadership, but he says the youths understand the problem.

“This year is the year of revelation, they should take note. Whether they think that the young people have the chances or not, everything shows that this government does not have a direction,”

Mr Oyeniji gave this analysis during a live show on Channels TV.
