'Thief In Aircraft': On Your Next Trip, Watch Your Money Bag
Robbers seem to be moving beyond operating on land to stealing in the air.
Stealing from passengers aboard a flight is something that was unthinkable for many.
But that is what we are gradually walking into.
On Monday, the Lagos Airport Police Command will arraign a male suspect who allegedly stole 1, 008,000 Naira aboard an Air Peace flight from Abuja to Lagos.
The spokesperson for the command, Joseph Alabi, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Lagos that the suspect would be arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court for stealing.
Alabi said the suspect, who lives in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, allegedly stole the sums of 504,000 Naira, 350,000 Naira and 154,000 Naira aboard the flight.
According to him, the monies belonged to one Mr Olaniye and Mr Abubakar Jimoh, who were his co-passengers on board the flight.
The suspect was apprehended by vigilant passengers and crew while pilfering from luggage aboard the flight, at about 11: 00 a.m. on Saturday.
According to him, the suspect was thereafter handed over to the command upon landing in Lagos for investigation and prosecution.
However, one cannot but wonder how a man will travel with such raw cash in a cashless policy era.
