There Is An Illegal Firearm Factory In Abuja
Philip John has been in the gun fabrication business for 17 years, but all these years of experience have ended in the net of the Nigeria Police Force.
John is the owner of a factory in Nigeria's capital city, where he fabricates arms.
Single-barrel guns are sold for 20,000 Naira while Dane guns go for 10,000 Naira.
No one knew his illegal firearm fabricating factory was in Shenagu village near Zuba, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
He had other persons who worked with him that have also been arrested by the police.
Mr Onyegabueze Okpara is the supplier of ammunition, while Joseph Bulus distributes the arms.
While their illegal business was on, Okpara, would disguise as a bicycle spare parts dealer. But it was all a strategy to take attention away from his real business of ammunition selling.
He was arrested at Kaita market with the illegal items which he conceals and sells to criminals.
Okpara had been in the illicit deal since 1997 and he sells a pack containing 25 pieces of live cartridge for 12,000 Naira while single cartridge goes for 500 Naira.
Bulus is the major link, who connects the owner of the factory, John, with potential buyers of the fabricated firearms.
He was arrested in Zuba.
The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Mr Sadiq Bello, said items recovered from the suspects by the FCT Police Command included locally fabricated revolver pistol cylinder, 4 Dane guns, 1 double barrel gun, 1 single barrel gun, 2 caliber live cartridge and 6 Dane gun muzzles.
Others are 4 single barrel muzzles, 6 barrel gun frame, 2 gun muzzle spring, 1 manual motor drill, 1 dice for retread and various implements used for manufacturing locally made weapons.
Bello told reporters that the suspects would be charged at the conclusion of investigation.
This discovery is coming few days after customs discovered riffles in a container in Lagos Port.
