Nollywood romantic-comedy, The Wedding Party first came out last year, and quickly became the highest grossing movie in Nigeria.

It earned 453million Naira.

The sequel is already showing potential to outclass the first part.

While ‘Wedding Party’ made 9.6million Naira on the first day of its release, ‘Wedding Party 2’ grossed 20 million Naira on the day it debuted in cinemas on December 15, 2017.

Slightly more than double the first movie.

Now the movie, within the first week (sales from advances screenings and the opening weekend) has made 73 million Naira.

Announcing this success on Instagram, the director of the movie, Niyi Akinmolayan said.

“Everything na double double...na double double!!! Cue in drums!!! Thanks to everyone who have spent their hard-earned money to see this film. I want to kiss you all!!!”

The Wedding Party 2 is set six months after the first film, and focuses on the groom’s brother, Nonso (Enyinna Nwigwe), who continues his romance with Deirdre (Daniella Down), one of Dunni's bridesmaids from London.

Nonso proposes to Diedre by accident and sets off a chain of events.
