The President of France, Emmanuel Macron visited Fela’s African Shrine in Lagos, and along with his visit came reservations and comments.

After he left, while some Nigerians did not get the point of his visit, others asked if Fela himself would have welcomed the president of a country, who was a former colonial master into his beloved shrine.

Well Senator Ben Murray-Bruce is taking a different stand and insists that Fela Kuti deserves some ‘accolades’ and restitution from the Federal Government.

The senator who represents  Bayelsa east constituency said on Twitter that the  Afrobeat legend, is even more famous than any president in the history of Nigeria.

According to the senator, “Fela is an icon, the greatest in Africa. Fela is a tourist attraction. More people know Fela than the name of any president in the history of Nigeria. Fela is Mr tourism”.

He went on to say, ''the Federal Government must apologize to Fela and offer him restitution. It took a president of a former white colonial master to recognize Fela and the African Shrine, while our own president, burnt his house, broke his jaw and even jailed him for having £1,600 in his pocket''.

Give Fela Kuti some accolades, he's paid his dues, he paid in full!
