The Deaths Of DJ Olu And Tagbo Inspired 'FIA’ - Davido
The song FIA means a lot to Davido.
The Award winning singer says the song was inspired by the deaths of his close friends - DJ Olu and Tagbo Umeike.
Davido said this in an interview where he spoke about his recent successes, his career in general and his love for Africa.
“There’s one that I wrote about two of my friends who died, that was FIA” he said, when asked about the song that touched him the most.
The 25-year-old pop star released FIA in November 2017 shortly after two friends of his died in quick succession.
Tagbo Umeike passed away from drinking excess volumes of tequila at his birthday party; while DJ Olu (Olugbemiga Abiodun) died under mysterious circumstances with an associate, Chime Amaechi in a car at their Banana Island residence.
In the days after these incidents, Davido cancelled several events; and was linked to the death of Tagbo.
He denied any involvement and was eventually cleared.
In the song FIA, he took shots at the police and Tagbo’s erstwhile apparent lover, Caroline Danjuma who first accused him of Tagbo’s death.
