Tension In Osun Over The Shooting Of Couple
There is palpable tension in Ilare-Ijesa, a community in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State as a couple was reportedly shot by a suspected political thug Tuesday night.
It was gathered that Elijah Babajide was shot in the chest and the wife, Omoyeni, in the leg.
The attacks on the couple, who are said to be members of All Progressives Congress (APC), have reportedly sent shivers down the spines of other members of the party, who have started leaving the community.
Investigation furthered revealed that the thug has been arrested by the Police and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Osogbo.
Both the husband and wife were said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
While reacting to the crisis, the Owalare of Ilare, Oba Adejoro Otebolaku Ogidan declared that there was a rift between loyalists of the PDP and APC which led to the arrest of some members of the parties by the police and they were later released.
Military men and mobile policemen have been deployed to the town to calm the situation and forestall any further breakdown of law and order,
When contacted, the state police spokesperson, Folashade Odoro, said she needed more time to be able to comment on the matter.
