Residents of Oba-Ile community in Akure are currently in palpable panic over the spate of killings by unknown gunmen in the community.

Three security guards were said to have been killed in cold blood in the last one week at different locations around the vicinity, leaving the residents in a state of confusion.

A source told Bounce News correspondent that the guards were killed during the week at their various duty posts.

"One of the victims was a well-known guard who was in his 60s. We knew him as Bab Eze. He was macheted at the filling station where he worked as guard and nothing was stolen from him or the filling station." He said.

Another resident, Ojo Adegbayi said the gunmen left their machete at the scene of the killing with blood stain.

"We have not been sleeping in Oba-Ile in the last one week. Everywhere is tensed up and everybody is watching and praying. Some of the tenants are even planning to relocate because they feel the environment is no more secured."

A former Ondo State commissioner for transports, Omoniyi Omodara, who expressed shock over the killing described it as very strange occurrence.

"It's strange to me because the incidents happened in an environment where there is a police division and Area command. And till now, no arrest has been made."

The Ondo State Police Spokesperson, Femi Joseph, who confirmed the killings acknowledged that two guards were found dead in Oba-Ile and police have begun a discreet investigation into the cause.

The corpses were said to have been taken to the state hospital by patrol police team.
