Telecom Operators’ Compulsory Data Rollover Starts June 26
From June 26, your internet data subscription will not be able to expire. Your unused or unfinished data will have to be rolled over to your new subscription.
Already some of the telcos are already doing it but by this directive from the regulator, Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC, it becomes compulsory.
Before this new directive from the NCC, subscribers’ unfinished or unused data subscription automatically became useless to them as soon as it hits the expiry date.
However, on Friday, the NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman, Prof Garba Umar Danbatta, said telecom operators must begin the implementation of the data rollover directive from June 26, 2018.
Prof. Danbatta gave the marching order at the 95th Consumers Outreach Programme in Dutse, Jigawa State.
The NCC boss, who was represented by the Head of Information and Reference Unit of the commission, Ismail Adedigba, said failure by the operators to start implementing the directive would attract 5 million naira fine on each offended subscriber.
