Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi was all smiles when he put pen to paper on a long-term deal with English Premier League club, Liverpool.

But the 20-year-old will not be wearing the Reds’ jersey in the 2018/19 season as he will be going on another loan spell.

Awoniyi joined Liverpool in August 2015 but has not kicked a ball competitively for the club, having spent the last three seasons on loan to three different clubs - FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen and Royal Excel Mouscron respectively.

He had a successful season in Belgium’s top flight with Royal Excel Mouscron that included 10 goals and four assists, which earned him his new long-term contract at Liverpool.

When asked if he would be going for another loan or not, the FIFA U17 World Cup winner said work permit will force him to do so.

“I think so. At the moment, I don’t have a work permit. I’ll go on loan again and keep on working hard as much as I can.”

Liverpool finished fourth on the English Premier League table last season, and made it to the final of the UEFA Champions League where they lost 3-1 to winners Real Madrid.
