Sports pay TV channel Supersport has ended it broadcast right deal with the League Management Company.

The South African company will no longer beam live matches of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

In August 2013, the LMC secured a four year broadcast deal with Supersport worth 34 million dollars.

The contract was to run between 2015 and 2019.

Earlier in April, Supersport took a similar decision in Kenya – terminating a ten-year relationship with the Kenyan Premier League.

It also lost the broadcast right for the Nigeria Basketball League, which has been taken over by Kwese Sports.

In 2016, the company, ended their union with the Ghanaian Premier League, which another pay television company, Star Times have since taken over.

Supersport's televising of matches has increased the fan base of the NPFL across the country and brought more credibility to the status of football matches in the league.
