The Super Eagles of Nigeria are billed to play England in a high-profile friendly in March 2018 a new report has indicated.

Football portal FCNaija on Tuesday revealed that a top NFF official has confirmed ongoing talks between the England FA and the NFF.

The top source was however quick to state that the proposed friendly will only go on if the Super Eagles and the Three Lions are not in the same group after December 1 World Cup draw.

“We received a mail from the FA asking for the friendly with the Eagles but it will only be confirmed after the draws. If we are in the same group it means we cannot play against England,” the senior NFF official was quoted as saying.

Both England and Nigeria have sealed their World Cup place and a friendly between the two countries will be a delight for many football fans across the two countries and beyond.

Already, Genort Rohr has confirmed that the Eagles will indeed play top quality friendly games before they go to Russia but he has opted to leave the options open till after the World Cup draws are conducted.

Nigeria played a high grade friendly against Italy in one of their preparatory matches ahead of the 2014 World Cup. The game ended 2-2 at the Craven Cottage in London.
