After a rather long wait, Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo finally made his debut in the La Liga on Saturday and it was a worthwhile experience for the Nigerian star.

Omeruo expressed his happiness after he made a winning debut for Leganés as they beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in a La Liga match on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old, who is currently on loan from premier league outfit Chelsea was in action for 61 minutes as he came on as a first half substitute following the injury to Unai Bustinza and held his own against the very tricky forwards of the away team.

Guido Carrillo gave Leganés an early first half lead inside the Estadio Municipal de Butarque and held on. Vallecano threw everything at them as they chased for the equalizer but Omeruo and teammates stood strong in defence and their case was made easier when Alvaro Medran sent of after receiving a second yellow card.

A delighted Omeruo took to his official Instagram page to celebrate with his fans, he wrote:  “Glad to make my debut in Win.. Vamos leganes ????????”


The win now takes Leganés a spot above Vallecano on the La Liga log in 18th position with seven points while their opponent sit 19th with just five points.

Omeuro is expected to join the Super Eagles camp during the international break ahead of the double header against Libya in the 2019 Africa Nations Cup qualifier on October 13 in Uyo and 16 in Tunisia.
