Super Eagles Move Higher On FIFA Ranking
The Super Eagles are the first African team to qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup and that has helped improved the rating of Nigeria on the monthly FIFA rankings.
In the October edition released on Monday by the world football governing body, the Super Eagles moved from the 44th spot to the 41 position.
Nigeria is also ranked fifth in Africa behind the quartet of Tunisia, Egypt, Senegal and Congo DR.
It is understood that this Monday’s ranking will be used in the December 1 final draw for the 2018 World Cup competition.
This implies that the Super Eagles are 18th of the expected 32 teams that have already qualified for the World Cup.
Nigeria is expected to fall further behind as the host country, Russia will be brought from the 63rd position it occupies to be in the top eight ranked team during the draw which holds in State Kremlin Palace in Moscow.
Also some teams yet to seal their place in Russia are ranked above Nigeria, so their is a huge possibility that the Super Eagles will be in Pot 4 for the World Cup draws.
Meanwhile, the trio of Germany, Brazil and Portugal are the highest ranked teams in the world presently.
