Suicide Bomber Kills Self, Injures Two Soldiers In Borno
Another suicide bomb attack has been recorded in Borno State, northeast Nigeria.
Confirming the attack, the Borno State Police Command said it occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Mashimari.
A statement by the spokesman for the command, Mr Victor Isuku, reads: “A Female suicide bomber detonated IED strapped to her body at Mashimari by Military Tango 4 behind IDP camp at Konduga, killing herself and injuring two Soldiers”.
The Commander of the Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Lucky Irabor, also confirmed the attack.
He said the affected soldiers are receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
“What happened was, they tried to stop the suicide bomber who attempted to infiltrate the camp. When she persisted, they shot her in the process and got injured from the explosion that followed,” Irabor said.
After the attack, the scene was visited by a team of anti-bomb experts to sweep out possible threats.
Normalcy has been restored to the area.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but similar attacks in the past have been attributed to Boko Haram.
