A student of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola, Adamawa State has been reported killed, and several others injured following a students' unrest on the campus last night.

The crises was reportedly triggered by the result of the Student Union Government, SUG election which favoured a particular group.

Sources reveal that following the university's SUG elections last Saturday, the christian students clinched almost all the positions.

This did not go down well with their Muslim counterparts who attacked them while they were having fellowship.

In the wake of the protest, the University authorities ordered a shut down of the school and asked students to vacate the premises within hours

This is coming at a time when students were to commence their exams by morning.

Announcing the closure to journalists, the Dean of studies Alhaji Lawan Haruna however denied the claim that the clash  started in the campus contrary to reports from the students.

As things stand now, about four lecture theatres and some equipment have been destroyed by the rampaging students.

Earlier, students were seen packing their personal effects as security personnel were deployed to forestall further breakdown of law and order.

Meanwhile, the Adamawa state Commissioner of Police CP Abdullahi Yerima coming out of a security meeting with Governor Mohammed of Adamawa State, described the incident as unfortunate but pointed out that the university is now calm.
