'Stop Inviting Comedians To Churches' - Daddy GO Adeboye
It is a common habit for churches to invite comedians to their programs to spice up the atmosphere and keep people engaged.
Many Nigerian churches even go as far as using them to anchor special programs.
But the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has kicked against it.
Daddy GO said the churches have now turned the House of God to places of comedy.
He said this at the ongoing annual convention of the church tagged Dominion holding at the Redemption Camp on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
"I don't understand how some churches have turned the House of God to a place of comedy.
"They now invite jesters to make them laugh, when God clearly states in the bible that his house is the house of prayers."
This is not the first time inviting comedians to churches has been condemned.
President of Mount Zion Faith Ministries International, Mike Bamiloye had earlier criticized the invitation of comedians to churches because laughing at “jokes of scriptures, the Blood of Jesus, speaking in tongues, the throne of grace is a mockery of God.”
Meanwhile, Adeboye has addressed reports of him planning to hand over leadership of the church to the General Overseer of Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo.
Pastor Adeboye, who spoke at the ministers’ conference of the mission on Saturday held at the Redemption Camp, stated that God had not yet revealed to him who his successor would be.
He, therefore, warned those spreading rumors of Bishop Oyedepo being his successor, to desist from such acts.
