Stomach Infrastructure: How Ambode Lavished Over 150m On APC Members During Christmas/New Year Celebrations
It was a bumper Christmas and New Year celebration for members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.
Governor of the state, Gov Akinwunmi Ambode approved a whopping sum of N150 million as Christmas and New Year welfare packages for them.
The money was used to buy rice and shared in cash among members of the party in the state.
This was in appreciation of their hard work and keeping faith with the party.
Bounce News investigation showed that the party’s 57 local government chairmen were given N100,000 each. Add together, the 57 chairmen collected N5.7million.
Other members of the executives in the local governments received N20,000 each. There are at least 15 members in the executive. By calculation, the governor doled out N300, 000 to the party’s executives at local governments.
The governor also gave each of the wards N50,000. The state has 376 electoral wards. If you multiply N50,000 by 376, it amounts to roughly N19 million.
Each Local government also received about 60 bags of Lake rice for distribution to members. At N12,000 the total cost of the rice is N41 million of tax payers’ money.
The governor was also said to have also splashed over N5 million and 50 bags of rice on the State Exco of the party.
The 150 milion does not include cash and other gift items extended to other party chieftains, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders in the state.
It was gathered that top chieftains of the party and first class traditional rulers in the state got a cow each while other party leaders and grade one to three Obas got one ram each.
