2019: Sowore Challenges Buhari, Atiku To Run At Lagos City Marathon
Presidential candidate for African Action Congress Omoyele Sowore is not only flexing his muscle politically, he is also showing his fitness in road race.
Sowore has participated in many marathons including the Lagos City Marathon in 2017.
Speaking at the 2019 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon media seminar on Monday, Sowore encourages media to be professional in their practice when the event is held on Saturday February 2.
The publisher of Sahara Reporters, a guest speaker at the media seminar, was advised not to comment about politics during his speech. But you cannot take away politics from a presidential candidate, not when the election is barely three weeks away.
“I have done eight marathons before now, including the Lagos City Marathon in 2017.
“Before coming to this seminar, I was briefed not to bring politics in my speech, otherwise I would have said all presidential candidates for the 2019 election should compete at the Lagos City Marathon, and anyone who finish first should be voted for.”
His remark sent a roaring laughter across the hall of the Sports Bar inside the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.
Sowore is seeking to become Nigeria’s next president but faces stiff competition from incumbent Muhammadu Buhari and major opposition Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
