A crunch clash is on the cards, as the Super Eagles battle their South African counterparts in a crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier this weekend in Johannesburg.

Since their maiden clash in a World Cup Qualifier in Lagos almost three decades ago, the Super Eagles have enjoyed the upper hand over Bafana Bafana until lately when the South Africans broke the jinx in Uyo.

Now South Africa will be hoping to gain a back-to-back win against the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the first time in history when they square up on November 17 in Johannesburg.

Nigeria have won seven, drawn one and lost two of their previous 10 matches against South Africa, but their only competitive lost on match-day one of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers remain the most painful because it was in front of the Eagles fans in Uyo.

South Africa-Eagles

While some say records are more like ladies’ skirt and does not reveal everything, yet shows a lot, the question on the lips of many is whether the Eagles can get a revenge at the FNB Stadium or the South Africans will indeed confirm a power shift, as far as rivalry between these two teams is concerned.
