South Africa Stun Super Eagles in Uyo, Break Jinx
Bafana Bafana of South Africa have finally recorded their first-ever competitive victory over Nigeria as they romped to a 2-0 win over the Super Eagles in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday in Uyo.
Tekelo Rantie headed Bafana Bafana in front after 54 minutes when he powered home a cross from the right past Akpeyi with the Eagles' defence guilty of ball watching.
Bafana continued to enjoy possession and were gifted another goal in the 80th minute through Percy Tau, who rounded up Akpeyi following a through pass from Dolly.
Libya now lead Group E after they trounced Seychelles 5-1 on Saturday in Cairo. They are closely followed by South Africa who also have three points.
The Eagles failed to qualify for the last two editions of the African Cup of Nations.
