South Africa is set to make history again eight years after becoming the first African country to host the FIFA World Cup, South Africa.

This time, they want to be the first African country to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and they’ve already hit the ground running with an official 2023 bid.

In June, the South African Football Association (SAFA) expressed interest in hosting the event, but it wasn’t made official until the country’s national women’s team secured their first-ever qualification for the Women’s World Cup.

South Africa stand a chance because the 2010 World Cup infrastructure is still in place giving the country a fair advantage.

Australia is the only other country who announced their own bid in October.
