Sosoliso Crash Survivor, Kechi Okwuchi Moves To Next Stage Of "America’s Got Talent"
Nigeria has talent and the world knows it.
Kechi Okwuchi once again got all the judges of America’s Got Talent to give her a standing ovation.
Her rendition of Donny Hathaway "Song for You" made her also get ‘yes’ from all 4 judges, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Mel B as well as guest judge, Seal.
She now moves to the Live Show round.
“What I can say for sure is you deserved your place here tonight, not just on your story, but on your talent. That’s the truth tonight,”
Cowell said after her performance.
Kechi shared a photo of herself after she watched the show with fellow burn survivors, thanking the judges for saying the words she needed to hear.
"Tonight was overwhelming…idk. I got to watch the show with all the @shrinershospitals kids, fellow burns survivors, and it was just so fulfilling…and now. Live shows, huh. I’m just so grateful to God, guys, for allowing me to get this far, and I’m eternally grateful to Seal and Simon for saying the words I needed to hear: that I deserved to be on the show based on my voice, not just my story.
And thank YOU all, for being with me through this journey and finally, thank you @agt !! Cos even if it ends here, my dreams have already come true! @howiemandel @heidiklum @officialmelb@simoncowell @tyrabanks."
On December 10, 2005, Okwuchi became one of the only two survivors of the Sosoliso Airline Flight 1145 crash that claimed the lives of 107 passengers.
The crash occurred 20 minutes to landing on her way back to Port Harcourt for a Christmas holiday with other students from her school, Loyola Jesuit College.
