Six Suspected Traffic Robbers Arrested In Lagos
If there is one security issue that is fast becoming a major concern for Lagosians, it is the return of traffic robbery to the city.
The police seem to be aware of the threat this menace is posing to the credibility of their efforts to make Lagos safer.
The police boss in December 2018 promised to double efforts at clamping down on the miscreants perpetrating this evil and this is paying off.
On January 2, 2019, the police received information that some hoodlums, armed with guns and other dangerous weapons were dispossessing motorists of their valuables along Ajegunle area of Alakuko, Lagos.
On receipt of the information, operatives from Alakuko Police Station mobilized to the scene.
On sighting the policemen, the armed robbers ran in different directions to avoid being arrested but were chased.
The police were able to arrest six persons between 18 to 25 years of age, suspected to be members of the gang.
Exhibits recovered from them include cutlass and daggers.
According to the police, the suspects have confessed committing the crime and will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
In a similar situation, a 38-year-old man, Faruba Idris was caught in Ejigbo area of Lagos state robbing motorists.
The suspect was immediately searched, and a cut-to-size locally made gun with 2 cartridges was recovered from him.
He will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
