Six Die In Kogi Boat Accident
A boat accident on Friday morning claimed over 6 lives at Ebbe, a riverine area in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Goods worth millions of Naira were also lost in the incident.
The incident took place at Miza village when the boat that was on its way to the popular Friday Market in Katcha village, a border town between Kogi and Niger States, had a head-on collision with an oncoming boat.
Both boats, it was gathered, had aboard them mostly women and children.
The women are mainly traders in smoked fish from surrounding villages and communities to the market.
One of the survivors, Muhammadu Ndalugi, blamed the accident on poor visibility.
He said the drivers, despite the sounds from their boat engines, could not see clearly, hence the collision.
Local divers were at the scene trying to recover more bodies.
