Faith without work, the good book says, is death.

The General Overseer of the Banner of Christ Church, Adegbayi, Ibadan, Rev. Emmanuel Adeniyi, has cautioned Christians against praying for quick wealth without hard work.

Adeniyi said in his sermon to mark the 15th Youth Anniversary of the church on Sunday that Nigerian youths should endevour to use their energy on meaningful ventures.

He identified hard work+prayer as instrument that could lead to success in life.

“It is saddening hearing negative reports about some youths involving in robbery, kidnapping, cultism, rituals and other criminal activities.

“This category of youths is doing these devilish things in their quest to become rich quickly but they end up destroying their lives.

“I implore our youths to be hard working, be determined and pray ceaselessly so that God will crown their efforts,” he said.

Adeniyi further appealed to parents and guardians to teach children and wards how to pray and mentor them to success.

He blamed parents for some of the indiscipline being displayed by some youths, saying a well brought up child could not misbehave in the society.

He congratulated all the youths in the church and urged them to continue living a God-fearing life.
