The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has reasons to be thankful for his life and that of his wife and son.

The family escaped what could have gone down as an assassination about 4:00 am on Tuesday at their Apo Quarters residence in Abuja.

Ekweremadu’s Special Adviser on Media, Uche Anichukwu, said that the armed men discreetly evaded the security and entered his house.

Thereafter, they took hold of his son, and commanded him to lead them to the Senator’s bedroom.

But they got more than they bargained for in the senator’s bedroom.

A struggle ensued after which some of the men escaped, while one of them was arrested.

According to Anichukwu, the arrested member of the gang refused to divulge any information on the operation. He has, however, been handed over to the police.

The lawmaker had also narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on his life in Abuja on November 17, 2015.
