Inmates in the Ondo state police command may likely be having a nice time and momentarily forget the trauma of their incarceration with the presence of a masquerade.

The state police command has decided to spice up the dull moment in the cell after apprehending a masquerade for allegedly stabbing one Femi Makanjuola to death in Akure.

Parading the suspect on Thursday, the command's spokesperson, Femi Joseph noted that the whole essence of masquerade across the world is to dance and entertain the people but unfortunately in Akure, it is the contrary.

"Since he refused to dance as expected in the public, with this development, am certain he will have enough time to dance and entertain his inmate in prison.

"Once the investigation is concluded, he will be charged to court accordingly."

However, the masquerade who identified himself as Olu Olowokere denied the allegation.

"I didn't kill him. We only had a misunderstanding when we demanded money from him and it was when he tried to attack me that my followers prevented him which led to the scuffle." He claimed.

According to the deceased mother, Mrs Monisola Awosanmi, there had been an issue between her son and the masquerade's father which had already been resolved.

"He was on his way to buy ingredients for spicing up the beans he was cooking when they attacked and stabbed my son to death just because he refused to give them money." The mother lamented.

The deceased until his death was a new employee of Dangote Cement group, Benin City who was billed to resume work on Monday October 8.
