Former wife to the Ooni of Ife, Olori Wuraola, has been declared free to remarry.

This follows reports of the return of her customary bride price by her family to the Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

Oba Ogunwusi was reported to have received the customary bride price in full from the elders of her family in Benin City.

It was gathered that the Ooni was initially reluctant to collect the bride price but was persuaded by the elders to seal their controversial marriage crash.

It was learnt that the elders had peacefully resolved to complete the dissolution of the marriage which lasted less than two years.

“She’s free now, she’s free…,” Oba Ogunwusi reportedly exclaimed afterwards.

The Ooni of Ife declared that contrary to the claim that anyone who marries his ex-wife would die, she is now free to remarry as he has taken reciept of the bride pride he paid on her.

In August, when rumours of their separation initially came up, both the Ooni and his estranged wife insisted they were still together.

The couple married in March 2016 at an elaborate ceremony which took place in Benin and Osun State.
