A notorious drug smuggling syndicate in Gombe state has met its waterloo.

The members of the syndicate have been arrested by the Gombe state police command.

This was contained in statement issued to journalists by the Police’s Public Relations Officer DSP Obed Mary.

In the statement the Commissioner of Police Shina Tairu Olukolu said the suspects were apprehended based on intelligence reports.

The suspects namely are, Ibrahim Abdullahi 23 of Kumbiya-Kumbiya quarters, Gombe, Zakari Ibrahim 47 of Bolari quarters, Gombe and Alhaji Abba Mohammed 54 of Jekadafari quarters, Gombe.

He said they were arrested for being part of a network of drug cartel operating in Gombe state.

Large quantities of drugs which includes; 12,100 tablets of Valium D5 5mg, 900 tablets of Tramadol 225mg, 538 tablets of Dizapam 5mg, 83 tablets of Exzol 5mg, 22 bottles of Codine Syrup 100ml and 10litres of Suck and Die Liquid were found in their possession.

Shina said the trio will be charged to court soon having confessed to the crime.

Residents who were excited to hear the news, expressed their gratitude to the police for the arrest.

Musa Sale-Maijanway said, “The police have done absolutely well. We have been waiting to hear this kind of news.

"We cannot be living with such people who make monetary gains selling products that is destroying our youths who are our future”.

"Musbau Bello-Miluku said the police should have identified and arrested them before now. 

“They have been going after the small-small distributors but now that they have started fishing out the major smugglers and distributors. I believe our society will be better but more effort must be made to rid our society of these people”.
