A 45 year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl. Ajibade Olaoluwa committed the offence on January 23 in Ayede-Ekiti.

The suspect, with the help of his brother lured the girl into Olaoluwa’s room before raping her.

The girl was on an errand for his father when she was tricked into entering Olaluwa’s room.

The brother of the accused held the victim’s legs while he was raping her.

The victim’s noise drew the attention of neighbours who entered the room and met her on the bed crying.

On sighting people, Olaoluwa and his brother were said to have escaped through the window.

The matter was reported to the police and Olaoluwa, who had eloped was later arrested in his friend’s house.

He was arrested on a charge of sexual battery on a minor.

Olaoluwa on Tuesday appeared  before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court.

The Prosecutor, Oriyomi Akinwale told the court that offence contravened Section 31 of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the accused in prison pending receipt of  legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

The plea of the accused was not taken.

The Magistrate, Modupe Afeniforo ordered the remand of the accused and adjourned the case till March 4 for mention.
