The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde has emerged as the governor-elect of Oyo State.

The Returning Officer for Oyo State, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of University of Lagos, disclosed this on Sunday, March 10 at the state INEC headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan.

The PDP candidate beat his closest rival, Adebayo Adelabu of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) with 157,639 votes to emerge as the winner of the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State.

Makinde polled 515,621 while Adelabu scored 357, 982.

Seyi Makinde won in 28 out of 33 Local governments of the state, while Adebayo Adelabu only won in five local government areas of Oyo State.

Meanwhile, 26 House of Assembly seats were won by PDP. APC won 5 seats, and ADP won 1 seat.
