Sexual Abuse: LASG Warns Parents To Keep Eyes On Children This Holiday
The long holiday is here when secondary, primary and nursery school children will spend the next two months away from school.
This is a period most of them stay at home, while parents are away to work, leaving them exposed to a lot of risks.
One of those risks is sexual abuse, and the Lagos State Government is warning that there is going to be an increase in the rate of child molestation, sexual abuse and rape.
Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Agboola Dabiri, drew the attention of parents to be more proactive this period.
“Some people are in the habit of using the school holiday period to perpetuate evil against schoolchildren; so beware.”
Parents are also advised to keep close contact and monitoring of their children, especially the girl child, to prevent sexual abuse.
