A lot of people are wondering what gingered Sevilla to come from three goals down to force a 3-3 draw against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, reports filtered in that coach Eduardo Berizzo told his players at half-time in Tuesday's game at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The action of Sevilla's players, who rushed to Berizzo after Guido Pizarro scored an injury-time equaliser in the 3-3 draw, shows they were moved by the news from their coach and played for him.

Sevilla has now confirmed the development in a statement.

"The medical services of Sevilla FC report that the coach of the first team, Eduardo Berizzo, has been diagnosed with an adenocarcinoma [malignant tumour] of the prostate.

"The future examinations will allow us to decide which are the steps to follow regarding the treatment."

After a three-year stint at Celta Vigo, Berizzo joined Sevilla in the summer on a two-year contract.
