Super Eagles defensive midfielder, Joel Obi is quite delighted to make his debut for his new club, Chievo Verona on Saturday in their Serie A clash against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus.

However, while Obi is happy he got a chance to face Ronaldo and his teammates, the 28-year old Nigeria international was however not happy with the outcome of the encounter in which Chievo were beaten 3-2 by Juve.

He told Complete Sports, he and his teammates deserved at least a point in the season opener.

“So pleased to have played my first game but the result was not what we deserved,” Obi told CSN

“The manner at which we lost was painful.”

Sami Khedira gave Juventus the lead in the third minute, before Mariusz Stepinski headed in the equaliser for the hosts.

Emanuele Giaccherini put Chievo in front on 56 minutes from the spot but a Mattia Bani drew Juventus level before Federico Bernardeschi scored the 93rd-minute winner for the Bianconeri in the encounter.

Obi is expected to make his second appearance for Chievo when they face Fiorentina next Sunday while Juventus host Lazio on Saturday
