The project was initially awarded in 2002 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration at contract value of N20 billion.

15 years after, the project is yet to be completed and this is giving the Senate concerns.

The Senate on Wednesday invited Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, to explain why the project remains uncompleted.

It directed that the minister should brief its Committee on Works on circumstances surrounding the Federal Government’s inability to partner with the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas and resolve pending issues.

The upper chamber resolved that the committee should carry out independent and comprehensive evaluation of the project before submitting its report in 4 weeks.
