The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Jummai Alhassan is advocating for the inclusion of women in peace building and social development of the society.

The Minister made the remarks while unveiling the Adamawa state Peace Architecture Assessment Report designed by United Nations Women in collaboration with the Adamawa state government.

Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development represented by Femi Alaska, the assistant director in the ministry, expressed her appreciation for the United Nations and the Adamawa state government for their continuous effort in ensuring that women in communities affected by violence participate in the peace process.

On her part, the UN Women Programme Manager, Njeri Karuru said she is hopeful that the recommendations contained in the report will be used effectively to reform the peace architecture of Adamawa state.

Also, the Adamawa state Commissioner for Women Affairs who appreciated the United Nations for supporting the state in its peace building efforts said more needs to be done in the area of women participation in peace building and decision making in the society.

Stakeholders at the event also bore their minds on the significance of the report and their expectations.

The report was officially unveiled by the representative of the Minister and other stakeholders with a call on the Adamawa state government to use it effectively in the peace building process.
