Women from the 27 local government areas of Imo State have a demand.

They have urged the chieftains of the 68 registered political parties in Nigeria to allocate more sensitive positions to female politicians.

At a one day seminar and public presentation of Voters Education and Women in Politics Manual in Owerri, the state capital, on Friday, the audience resolved among other things that women should be supported to emerge as political party chairmen.

The programme, which was organised to encourage more women to take active part in the 2019 electoral processes, was put up by an international non governmental organisation, ActionAid.

Part of the resolutions reached at the end of the seminar were that apart from urging political parties to see the need to support women to emerge as leaders, the men folks should consciously give women equal opportunities to aspire for greatness.

Apart from urging women to stop being complacent in issues that pertain to politics and governance, men were encouraged to allow their wives to be part of election processes and governance.
