An image of the suspects earlier arrested by the policed alleged to have engaged in vote buying in the ongoing Osun governorship election has surfaced.
The image of two old men were published by the Police after they were arrested.
They both held the monies allegedly meant for vote buying in their hands.
All doubts that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may have found solution to vote buying was confirmed after the image surfaced.
INEC had announced that it would prohibit the use of mobile phones in the voting booth while voting to stop the chances of people snapping their ballot papers, as evidence to get cash reward.
But the image of the men showed that the vote buying thing in Nigeria’s election is refusing to go away like a terrible nightmare.
The election that has been going on smoothly is gradually tilting to this highest cash-giver-wins-it practice.
How they were arrested was not disclosed by the police which posted the image on its Twitter page.
“Two (2) suspected vote buyers have been arrested by a team of police personnel on election duty at Iwo LGA of OSUN State and the sum of N604,000 recovered from their possession,” the police wrote.
Their party has not been confirmed yet, but they were with 604,000 Naira allegedly meant for vote buying.
It is coming after reports filtered in that some unidentified members of the Peoples Democratic Party were allegedly giving voters money to lure them to vote for the party that is seeking to wrestle power out of the APC’s hands.
