According to the Nigerian government, yields have increased in Kebbi State  from 2 tonnes per hectare to as much as 8 to 1 tonnes.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo had commissioned Wacot Rice Mill in Kebbi state which is meant to provide rice processing services to farmers in the state and neighbouring states.

Professor Osinbajo underscored the government's policy that looks at the private sector as the engine of development.

He expressed hopes that the new company will match the growing yield, and at the same time provide jobs for unemployed Nigerians.
