See How Broken Homes Are 'Breeding' Prostitutes In Kano
Eight suspected prostitutes have been arrested in Kano State by the Hisbah Board.
Prostitution is banned under Shaira law in the northern state, but girls are still engaging in the illicit trade.
When the suspected prostitutes were profiled, the board observed that most of them were from broken homes.
The Boards Assistant Commander-General of Operations, Mr Nasiru Isa, said the suspects were apprehended on Thursday evening at Rijiyar Zaki bus-stop during a special patrol.
“All the suspects are females of between the age of 22 and 23,” he said.
The Board’s spokesman wants called parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children to enable them grow up as responsible citizens.
The 8 girls, whose arrest followed a tip off, live in an uncompleted building at the bus-stop which they allegedly turned to a brothel.
“Our men went there around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday evening and arrested eight suspects at the Bus stop,” the official said, stressing that they would be properly screened and charged to court.
Mr Isa also advised youths in the state to shun all forms of immorality, be God fearing and strive to live a worthy life.
